I'm thinking of moving to New York City some day, any tips?
I've lived in a little town in Ireland my whole life. I'm training to be a hairdresser. I'd like to end up living in Brooklyn for a year. Is anyone out there from New York, and would they give me some advice? I've been to New York before so I know it's easy to get around and stuff like that, but do you think there would be much business oppurtunity for a hairdresser? Would it be easy for me to find somewhere to live? That sort of thing. Any advice would be appreciated. Why I should...why I shouldn't...that sort of thing (: Thankyou
Thanks Duncan the Puppy. I wasn't expecting it to be easy. You didn't burst any bubble. It won't be for another four or five years anyway, and I'm gonna live in the Netherlands for a while first hopefully. I'm still not 100% on it. We were thinking of maybe Massachusetts too. Thanks for all the information though (:

Well, I hate to burst your bubble, but it's not quite that easy to just pick up and move to the USA. It requires special Visas and work permits and it's NOT easy to do at ALL.
The link, below is to the US State Department "Visa Types For Immigrants" webpage, and that's where you should start the whole process.
And, don't forget that New York City is the MOST expensive city in the entire USA, too, so, even if you can get the necessary paperwork in order, you probably won't be able to afford to live here, sorry.
Good luck!... ☺
