why does the standard of living matter?
I know why in my head, but I'm looking for clarification and wording.

Standard of living refers to economic condition of the people living in an economy. It could also only refer to the economic condition of a few groups of people within an economy(rich and the poor). If a person has a better standard of living(if he is rich) he will have access to all kinds of facilities and products like a luxurious home,a cool car etc but a person who has a low standard of living(a person who is poor) will access to only a minimum amount of facilities which might be provided to him by the government free of cost(like food, shelter and clothing). Here the person who is rich leads a comfortable life but the person who is poor can't lead a life which is as comfortable as the life of a rich person. Thus having a good standard of living is important.

What do you mean by standard of living?
If you mean like, the way that people should live, I mean, in my opinion it doesn't really matter. We all have a way that we'd like to live and no one can tell us any different. It's our lives. We're indivisuals and can make that choice on our own.
Not everyone is enthused by the way that life is "supposed" to be lived, even though there is no one way.
I hope I helped you outtt. I wasn't sure what your question was, but I tried my best, haha.

Because most people prefer getting enough to eat rather than suffering from malnutrition? Because most people prefer to live in homes with bedrooms, toilets, and hot running water rather than in the streets? Because people are willing to work hard to get more goods and services, and particularly to get those goods and services their friends and acquaintances already have, and then more?
