What kind of analog telephone can be connected to an RJ11 phone jack?

I am not sure if there are different kinds of analog telephones so I was wondering if anyone knows about this.

In the US, all telephones you would buy uses RJ11. This is just the technical term for the telephone jack that is used here. Some other countries also uses RJ11, and therefore you could use a phone bought there, or they could use a phone bought in the US.

Some other countries has different telephone jacks, and therefore they don't have RJ11. In which case, one would need an adapter.

As long as the plug fits, it should work
