Here comes the new government spending from the GOP, will the tea party be outraged?

http://www.amconmag.com/blog/2010/11/04/the-future...

The presumptive new Republican chairman of the House Armed Services committee, Rep. Buck McKeon (R-CA), has announced that he will push for an increase in defense spending.

"But I also support a higher top line because we have underlying costs that are taking such a high percentage of our budget that we’re not going to have enough to do the R&D and do the weaponry spending to provide the wherewithal to have the defense that we need. So, you know, they cut back in missile defense. They cut back in the F-22. They cut back in the next generation bomber. All these things for the future, and we can’t wait for the future to come. We need to be prepared for it. So, I think we need more money in defense and I think we need to do a better job spending that money."

Don't disappoint us, now is your chance to be the small government, fiscal conservatives you have been bragging on for two years!

Update:

Thanks for reaffirming what the rest of us knew already. I can see from here that we are in for more "Business as usual" from the right.

Update 2:

Also here is our expenditure in the world compared to the next top spenders.

Defense spending is out of control and needed to be cut. I would also point out that medicare and social security are outrageous but that is a self correcting problem when the baby boomers die.

I don't know about the tea party, but all Americans should be outraged! It is the same old corporate welfare, and has nothing to do with defense. The government has wasted enough money on these stupid wars.

They need to find people that can communicate. Killing is wrong! I can't believe we don't have any intelligent Americans that would be able to work out a solution to the problems, as opposed to killing people. Most of the world hate Americans, because of the war monger Conservatives.

Obama was the initiator of the Defense Budget cuts, in particular, the R & D was slashed by some 15% which was ridiculous, because then he turned right around an dumped billions of dollars into WORTHLESS spending from the Stimulus, to the "Auto" fiasco ( which led to 367 dealerships closing) and so on. Since day one, Obama has had no interest in our military, except to compromise and reduce their resources.

It's a dangerous world but in comparison to every world military the US arsenal is very very advanced we have 11 known aircraft carriers that is more than the Chinese, British, Russian's and French combined., I'm all for high defense budget.

Also to my knowledge the US Military has over 17,000 total Aircraft it is very important to make sure that our Government can continue to develop whatever it takes to protect our freedoms.

    I know I will be.

Yes defense spending is one of the few, Constitutionally mandated, I agree with. But too much waste. Close those foreign bases. Closethestate-side bases only the state's want for govt largesse.

If those elected this past week do not reign in spending, yes, we WILL be, to be polite, more upset than we currently are.

We haven't seen any spending since they won't be sworn in until January, but keep up getting your exercise by jumping to conclusions.

Nobody said they wanted to cut defense spending other than the Dems. Please get your parties straight.
