determination of turpin's sex?
about 3 plus years ago, i found 3 very small turtles caught in the pool skimmer and we have kept them as pets. but have never determined the sex of these guys/ girls?? any suggestion on how sex is determined?

The only feasible way to determine the sex of any species of turtle is to look at the position of the vent, under the tail. If, with the tail held straight back, the vent is well beyond the upper shell, you have a mature male. Otherwise, you have either a female or an immature. In some species, the males grow front claws that are much longer than their rear ones.
