The reason your C drive is small is because your partition to that drive is small. I would suggest setting up new partitions upon setup so that you can allocate drive space to what is needed. you can also specify where the OS is installed. usually you will need two drive allocations, one big and one small. The big drive allocation is for the main OS and the second partition is for things like system restore files or back up files. You can also set up third partitions for separate OS load-ups.

You can choose the disk that the OS installs on, but the default label is C. I think you can change the label somehow, but it won't give you more disk space. Are you sure you chose the right disk? When the OS installs, it may take up some room on the disk. (my vista install took away about 10-20gb) Maybe that is what is confusing you.

Because an OS always defaults to C drive when the user doesn't select a different drive. I don't know where you get the idea that C drive is always the smallest here. Maybe yours is, mine isn't. I suggest you invest in a basic computer course.
