I read that book a while ago, but I'll try my best.
Well, Liesel first... she steal's books from the library, but once she is caught and she talks to the mistress (that lives there, don't remember her name...) and is nice to her, as a way of apologizing.
I also remember something about her and Rudy stealing fruits, and after that I guess Liesel felt guilty so she worked harder on being a good person, like teaching Max how to read and write. Also, during the bombing Liesel reads from her book to everyone to calm everyone down, it was somewhat lead on by guilt.
Max... I guess he feels guilty for being such a "burden" on Liesel and everyone else, so he tries to help out as much as he can, and tries to be a good friend to Liesel, as he write a book for her.
I hope I helped, that book was soo sad! Rudy Died....!!!! D:
I hope I helped!
