did space existed before the big bang?
I think space must have existed before the big bang, there will be "space" for the big bang to expand, thus being space infinite (or is it?) the universe is not because it is still expanding into space. So could it be more big bangs across space? That question for sure will create the notion of multiple (not parallel) universes.

The big bang was an expansion of space. There was no space until the singularity expanded and created the space whoch we call the universe.

The common theory is there was nothing - complete nothingness. After a HUGE expanse of time, the little matter that was in this nothing merged together into an incredibly small and hot ball. After this little ball mixed with more and more matter, it crushed itself with its own weight, then expanded rapidly - so rapidly that it exploded, creating - and still creating - our endless universe.
Answering your question, there was indeed "space." Space is really just a term to describe the outer world. Thats where "outer space" came from.

The universe is creating space as it expands. Whether or not space existed before the big bang can't currently be answered because that's outside our universe, and we can't see outside our universe.

We don't know what was before the Big Bang, so anything is a guess. I believe there was space, and in that space the Big Bang occurred. And there could be many other big bangs in other parts of space. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chaotic_inflation_the...

If you honestly think this is an argument against parallel universes then you seriously have no idea what you're talking about.
