I'm atheist and do not have a problem with any of those as long as they are not taught from a position of belief.

Comparative Religion and History of Religion would probably be the most useful courses for exposing students to a variety of beliefs. Belief Systems Incorporating Mythology and Folklore might be the most contentious since many people might object to their religious beliefs being considered "myths."

I would say all religions should be taught in school, because then it would be pretty unfair, and could result in discriminations and racism.

I live in England, and we were taught about Islam, Hinduism, Christianity, Jews, Bhuddism...

And to be honest, most of the class didn't like studying about other religions. But you have to know about others cultures.

I don't think every aspect of the religion should be covered, but maybe just the basics, such as beliefs, festivals, countries, origins... but nothing to deep!

Religious studies was one of my favourite subjects in school, because i was always open to all cultures, but some people used to hate others for what they apparently believed in. We also visited churches, and some kids were very disrespctful, and found it to be a playground.

Discrimination, Racism, and bullying would be the only thing to allow me to disagree to studying all religions in school.

I would go with all of those.

Learning about religions is learning about the World in which we live and the peoples with whom we share that World.

If you ban religious understanding, then to my mind, you may as well ban geography and history.

I went to a very forward thinking school, basically strong C of E, but in the VIth form, we had visiting clergy from various Faiths to tell us at first hand, what their Religion was all about, and we visited local places of worship, such as the Synagogue and a Hindu Temple.

perception structures incorporating Mythology and Folklore. history of religion worldwide. Comparative faith non secular paintings worldwide shape of worldwide Religions song of worldwide Religions i do no longer locate any contentious. My selection is what i became taught, interior the order i became taught it, in my Humanities type in 12th grade. most of the Christians objected to religions learn in comparable direction as myths. yet as you suggested, being pragmatic, i became conscious that atheists evaluate faith to be a fable. i became a Christian who became conscious i became no longer in church so I wasn't looking forward to any non secular training. My instructor in no way referred to as faith a fable. (even nevertheless he became an atheist.) He became respectful adequate to show "myths" and the "pass directly to religions." Having those training taught in a mundane way did enlighten me to my own scripture examine. relatively, there wasn't any monotheism in old testomony circumstances. (there became polytheism.) So this helped me to income some be attentive to-a thank you to my modern-day worldwide view of people who did settle for monotheism. and a superb style of the classic customs clarified scripture verses that i did no longer understand. alongside with studying that the "eye of a needle" became the small door in a city or a fort gate. Makes lots greater experience now, the verse that talks approximately "that's easier for a camel to pass throughout the attention of a needle than for a wealthy guy to head into the dominion of God." by way of fact thinking of our stitching needle would make it an impossible job for a camel. which potential this is impossible for the wealthy to pass to heaven. however the history exhibits me wealthy basically have concern. Whew! we don't would desire to furnish up all wish of salvation basically b/c we win the lotto. no longer coaching faith as innovations would not end people from identifying on a faith. It does reason intolerance from lack of know-how. i do no longer would desire to have self belief that China's regulations are appropriate, yet I specific greater effective be knowledgeable on them if i pass to stay there. We too, could be knowledgeable related to the folk that stay around us. I have no desire to alter right into a Muslim, yet I do choose for to income related to the faith so as that i will understand the factors of perspectives from my Muslim acquaintances. bear in strategies whilst gays had to stay interior the closet basically b/c society did no longer choose for it to "exist?"
