Log on as an Administrator.
First delete/un-install all programs/applications/games you no longer use (especially those you have disks for).
Burn/copy to CD/DVD/flash drive any and all music/pictures/movie files, verify they copied successfully and delete the originals.
Download install and run Ccleaner, both 'Registry' and 'Cleaner' parts...
Run Disk Cleanup (Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools) check/tick all boxes, they're all safe to remove.
Run Disk Defragmenter (Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools).
Or buy an external USB drive☺

it's all up to yourself!! If you have many large files such as games and programs then uninstall unnecessary ones if only you still got the setup files in discs planning to reinstall. But if you have large files such as movies then you should (if you have one) move them into an external hard drive because they're movies and you finish watching them and know the story, just like uninstalling games (single-player duhh) finished playing. But if you don't have one external hard disk, then you should.. sorry.. say goodbye and delete the watched and used and finished games and movies and stuff forever.. :( Spend some time organising stuff on your computer, maybe once a month or something (be consistent and responsible) to get rid of unnecessary stuff downloaded and got.. Or even better to make it a habit: decide properly before starting to download or filling up your internal hard drive, think if you'll need this, if you'll use it, for example when saving wallpapers, songs, large games etc.
Another method is to clean temporary files using third party-programs. There are many of them such as CCleaner and other good ones, and apart from junk-files cleaning, do also some registry fixing (with those programs as well, they come with several functions most time) and virus-scanning (separate, anti-virus duhh). And trust me if you haven't done junk-file cleaning in years, you'll get about a few GBs freed when you do it..
good luck :)

by no ability thoughts downloading any further 'stuff' to soak up greater area on yer HDD (annoying diskchronic). you won't be able to spare the area. the reason yer numbers shop switchin' may well be because of the fact yer actual RAM (Random get admission to reminiscence) is teensy-weensy, and yer HDD is woefully tiny in as we communicate's needs and as such yer OS (working gadget) makes use of 'digital RAM' (VRAM) to simulate actual RAM. Huh? Yep, lost ya huh? VRAM is what the OS makes use of to get admission to the HDD as RAM. while achieved with those VRAM needs, it releases the 'area' it used as RAM on the HDD, and mebba yer #s flutter around. attempt: administration Panel > Uninstall classes If there are any classes or apps you do no longer want or want spotlight it and click Uninstall, Delete, or eliminate on the splendid of the communique window. Probelly is basically no longer enuff however. you may get a larger HDD, and use the dinky one as a 'slave' HDD. a thank you to try this's for yet all over returned. ;-)

If you have another drive (D or E probably) and it's not the Windows Restore drive, download to that.
