root canal and alcohol?

its been over a day since my root canal. i had a temporary filling placed in and still need to go finish it up next week. my question is, can i drink beer now? if so, is there a limit or such? ive been searching the internet and they provide mixed answers or no answers, and especially nothing detailed.

Update:

well i havent been prescribed any medications, i dont feel any pain, only a little discomfort if i happen to bite down on the tooth. they didnt really give me a list of do's and don'ts, i dont even know how im suppose to brush my teeth.

Update 2:

thanks for the advice, from what im getting, its ok to drink as long as im not on any meds and the only thing to worry is about removing the temporary filling. im also guessing that liquid wont move the filling since im able to drink water and such.

This would depending on the medication the Doctor has prescribed. Antibiotics and pain medication can adversely effect the effects of the medication. Alcohol reduces the effectiveness of Antibiotics, and there may be counter indication with some pain meds. So fallow all Doctors instruction and read labels on your meds.

The important thing about your root canal is not to contaminate the root canal by doing anything to remove the temporary filling that's in it now.

Hope this helps. Good luck and make sure you follow through with your treatment.
