Looking for a type of video game, suggestions?

My little guy really liked my old PC Baldur's gate & the Icewind Dale games....he likes controlling an entire group of questors....actually, so does mom....

He wants a game like that for Christmas....suggestions? He also likes Fable, but he wants a group...

Update:

So many awesome suggestions. Thanks everybody. I can't pick a best answer, so I'll put it to a vote.

He could try the Neverwinter Nights games (the first made by Bioware(made Baldur's gate) and the second by Obsidian Entertainment.)

They are basically the kind of games as the Baldur's Gate series.

    They are also in 3D

And since they are not recent, they are at a low price.

And Fable was a great game, loved it, but there is Fable II and Fable III, but they are only for the xbox 360, so unless your planning to get an xbox 360, those choices are out.

    I hope this helped ;)

Star Craft 2 is a strategy game set in the future where you control a squad which you say where to go or do. You make infantries buildings stuff like that and then you go kill the enemy or do the objective. The game is really fun because you can approach the way you play the game in many ways.

Diblo 2 (a little old) but you can play on battle.net servers for free, games of 8 other people, quest and so on. War Craft Frozen Throne, mining for minerals, farming for trees and resorces, making an army to destroy other plays or computers and there is online missions and things of that nature. Star Craft- Same as War Craft, Runescape- Free online playing or membership for $5 a month, raise skills such as wood cutting cooking, combat, etc... go on quest party up with a large group of friends to do quest.

those are just a few games i use to play.

P.S. in diablo 2 there are 2 characters (druid and necro) that summon allies (druid summons wolfs birds spirits and even a bear, necromancer summons undead things like mages and warriors along with revives fallen enemies) works on windows 90,99,xp,vista. supported buy most all computers. diablo 2 ,star craft, and war craft can be played both online, off line, ip games, and linked computers.

Try one of the "the settlers" games or Warcraft 3 if you can still get it. Black and White 2 is also a fun game.
