It was friday October 13th in the year 1307 when the Knights Templar were rounded up and arrested by King Phillip of France. Some did get away but many, including Jaques de Moley, were brought to trial on charges of heresy. Some were burned to the stake and it was reported that Jaques de Moley said just before he was burned that he would exact revent. In exactly one year both the pope and King phillip of France were dead. There are other such reasons given for why 13 is unlucky. It is said that Jesus pluss the 12 disciples , which adds to 13, is where it originated. Either way, it is a superstition and it would appear though that those who believe in superstitions tend to experience them more than those who do not. I wonder whay that is ? It must be a mystery.

First off the number 13 being an unluckily was totally created from the imagination of mankind ... There were several incidents that took place on the friday the 13th.. But again most of those incidents were created by mankind like the planned attacked on the Knights Templar's and 13 people being at the Last Supper 12 disciples and Jesus which = 13 and Judas betraying Jesus Christ.... were actually planned events.... So Friday the 13th being a unlucky day is pure superstitious nonsense again created by mankind....... Like 3 men on a match again pure superstition nonsense... Except in war time Where 3 on a match can get you shot by a sniper....

13 was a number central to certain traditions of sacred geometry, because it reflected a pattern which could be seen to exist in man, nature, and the heavens. For instance, there are 13 major joints in your body. There are 13 lunar cycles in a solar year, and the moon travels 13 degrees across the sky every day. Six circles placed around a seventh central circle is a model of geometric efficiency and perfection in the second dimension that has been known to mathematicians for ages. But this same configuration in three dimensions consists of 12 spheres arranged around one central sphere, making 13 in all - the most compact three-dimensional arrangement recurrent in nature. A commentator writing about the Aztec calendar once said that, "Thirteen is a basic structural unit in nature. It means the attracting center around which elements focus and collect." Is this, then, the reason for Christ’s 12 disciples, King Arthur’s 12 knights, or the 12 major constellations in relation to our sun? The likelihood seems great indeed.

I once read (source long since forgotten, apologies) that thirteen is considered unlucky because of the fact that witches met in covens of 12 plus the devil (13) in mockery of Catholic mass and of the apostles (12 of them plus Jesus).

Source(s): The Knights Templar were a monastic military order founded in Jerusalem in 1118 C.E., whose mission was to protect Christian pilgrims during the Crusades. Over the next two centuries, the Knights Templar became extraordinarily powerful and wealthy. Threatened by that power and eager to acquire their wealth, King Philip secretly ordered the mass arrest of all the Knights Templar in France on Friday, October 13, 1307 - Friday the 13th.[4]
