pill swallowing anxiety?
I need to take my prenatal's. With my first child, I purchased over ten different brands of prenatal's to find one that was small enough for me to swallow. i have been taking those for years, now I am pregnant with my second child and I've just ran out of the small prenatal's. I went out and bought new ones as I can't seem to find the same brand I could use. The pills are one tablet and one liquid. I was able to take them both the first two days with minimal fear. Now for the last three days I have been unable to take the tablet. I know the inability is anxiety not physical. I also know, I need to take these vitamins. Does any one have any suggestions?
Another fear, is I try to swallow the pill long ways cause im afraid it will get stuck if it is swallowed horizontally, as the pills are thin and long. Is this possible?

I have massive anxiety about swallowing pills. Any size in general causes me to worry about it getting lodged or choking me. What I always do is fill my mouth with a liquid (usually water), tip my head way back and open my mouth. Then I just drop the pill straight down to my throat and swallow once I drop it. I never feel the pill at all and never choke it up. I hope that helps!

No, it's not gonna get stuck--throats are slick for a reason! I absolutely agree with the food recommendations. If you don't have any soft foods you can also just chew up something else and pop in the pill just before you swallow. You'll hardly notice.

where i work, we give our patients who deal with that pudding or applesauce with their meds. Its really easy just put it in a spoonful and eat it as if theres nothing in it.
