Is the Tea Party against government intervention in the free market...?

...only up until they point that they are for it?

http://www.nytimes.com/2010/11/13/opinion/13lighth...

But those expectations could be upset by an unexpected force: the Tea Party. Strangely, for a movement named after an 18th-century protest against import levies, Tea Partyers are largely skeptical about free trade’s benefits — according to a recent poll by NBC and The Wall Street Journal, 61 percent of Tea Party sympathizers believe it has hurt the United States.

At first glance, the Tea Party’s position may seem contradictory: its small-government, pro-business views usually go hand in hand with free trade. But if you consider the dominant themes underlying its agenda, it makes sense that the movement would be wary about free-trade policies.

Tea Partiers believe in non-government intervention.. unless its something they believe government should be involved in.

The Tea Party is a movement. It is not a political entity in a singularity form like the Republicans and dimocrats. There are many tea parties. There is Glenn's 9-12, there is the Tea Party Express, and then there is my Tea Party with 16 people in it. There is no umbrella to speak of.

The detailed specific points like you mentioned do not seem to be on the fore front. Basically, it doesn't mater how Washington stops wasting, as long as it stops.

Why do people assume the tea party has a position on every issue ?

The tea parties were formed, in protest to the trillion dollar plus deficits

When conditions exist such as collusion, price fixing, monopolies, gross exploitation of workers, public safety concerns from dangerous products, etc. government intrusion is necessary.

And yes, "free-trade" - NAFTA - CAFTA etc. has hurt the USA. At some point we have to worry about our own middle class workers and consumers before we worry about employing people in the 3rd world while maximizing our profits. Trying to find the happy medium is difficult no doubt!

They are politically confused people. They are useful idiots. My state voted for Pat Toomey. He is Mr. Outsourcing.

LOL. Provide some specific examples of that.

No one knows what the Tea Party is for or against. All of them have a different idea about what they stand for and oppose. The only thing they have in common is a dislike for American Government.

What? Go to a Tea Party meeting. That way we all won't know your level of ignorance.

Government regulation is usually the culprit when it comes to the economy sinking. Or do you not study history after they tell you what they want you to think history is in grade and high school?
