The sure do. They even change color earlier at higher elevations in many cases. The local plants have to adapt to higher colder climates so if the mountains are high enough, you can see the differences even there. You sometimes get trees planted in cities from colder areas and they turn color usually sooner where I lived than the native species.

in all probability late October or early November. the climate would be chilly (via Miami standards) yet ought to somewhat be friendly. The on a regular basis temperature will in all probability be interior the forties and 50s. it is uncommon to have any snow that early. it is not in any respect sparkling whilst the leaves will exchange shade interior the DC section, because it has plenty to do with the climate kinds over the summer season, consisting of ways plenty rain there has been. the autumn is likewise a sturdy time in terms of holiday makers--there are not all that many.

yup, and i believe this is because cold and shorter hours of sunlight tells the plants that winter is near. the plant then puts all its energy into its fruits to produce seeds to continue its species, meaning the leafs are cut off from energy, and die. obviously the leafs changing colors is them slowly dying.
