Troubleshooting hydraulic clutch?

'94 Ranger, 3.0, 5sp., 123k. Clutch does not disengage fully when pedal is depressed. Came on suddenly with no noticeable indications that you would expect if it were a hydraulic leak or failing master/slave cylinder. Truck can be driven by starting it while in 1st and making shifts without clutch but after a full stop its really hard to force it into 1st. I suspect its either/or a combination of problems with master or slave but would like to determine which one. Anyone have any ideas to make that determination?

You might be able to see if the master is leaking, by looking under the dash above the clutch pedal, and seeing if there is any fluid on the firewall, you might need to pull back the carpet a bit to check. If it's a slow leak, you can probably refill the master, bleed the system (from the slave) and keep it going for quite a while, as long as you keep the fluid topped up

Did this ensue swiftly? verify fluid and bleed equipment if it replaced into low. Visually seem at your grasp grab cylinder under the sprint and pull lower back the boot thats around the rush rod, if fluid pours out you desire a grasp. If no longer verify slave for fluid leakage. If there is not any leakage it must be internally bypassing. i could exchange slave first if it truly is an straight forward job (do no longer could get rid of trans). If no longer straight forward attempt grasp first. must be bent grab fork besides (get that regarded at) i've got considered it on a pair SRT4 super neons.

it sounds like you need to bleed your slave cylender look for a leeder that looks like the one on your calipers and bleed it the same way you would your brakes
