What makes hotdog and hamburger buns have that unique "bun" flavor that regular bread doesn't have?

Buns have a unique flavor that regular bread doesn't have. Is it extra sugar or something else?

    Usually they do have more sugar in the dough than white bread dough and they have more brown surface. If you think about a slice of bread it is brown only around the outside rim but buns are brown all over the top and bottom.

    yeah they add extra sugar in the mixture and they have flower on top :)
