Did Romney get named for baseball props nostalgia?

There is Bat Masterson, Lucille Ball, Homer Simson, Neil Diamond, and Mark Spitz. Is or was Mitt Romney's parents big baseball fans?

    Actually no. Strangely, his name is derived from a football player, not a baseball player.

    His father's cousin was named Milton Romney, and while he was playing quarterback for the Chicago Bears in the 1920s, he used the nickname Mitt. Since players don't use mitts in football, the nickname was probably just a shortened version of his full name, and has nothing to do with sports.

    Romney's Wikipedia page doesn't mention baseball at all. So I'm guessing it's not a very important component of his life.
