Why was the USA such a communist socialist country for so much of our existence until the last 30 years?

ok hear me out...the reason I say what I say is that I look at a lot of things that people are screaming up and down and saying are communist and socialist policies actually ..the USA was like that and much much more say 35, 40, 50 , 60 , 70 or 80 years ago etc.. its kind of like a scale of 10 to -10 and with 10 negative 10 being pure communism and right now we are like at 7 but we used to be a negatwe sive 3 say 40 years ago. I mean can you imagine the program called social security being propose in today's USA? my GOD, they would probably tar and feather the guy who just proposes it, or can you imagine some brave politician today saying we should have more pro union laws? ..like we had say about 50 years ago? or imagine the madman today who would propose a new law called medicare, or a Taft Hartley law, or can you imagine tariffs like in days of yore to protect american industry and jobs? or ....get this a top marginal tax rate where the richest americans instead of paying today's 35% would have to pay 83% top marginal income tax rate.

We sure used to be commies in the USA just a few decades ago...weren't we?

We didn't become "commies" until the Great Depression in the 1930s. After that the government continued to expand it's power during the Post-War era under the pretense that we needed bigger, stronger central government to defeat the Soviets. By 1980, the corruption of power and the still-born ideologies of the 1950s and 1960s were giving way to new economic ideas. Neoliberalism was on the rise and Americans were eager to achieve Pareto efficiency to increase societal wealth.

Conservative Republicans (who actually weren't that conservative, they were traditionalists) captured the White House and the support of the American people. The actually increased Federal Revenues 5 fold during the last 30 years by cutting taxes.

No, this isn't an advertisement for the Republican Party b/c they've done a lot wrong as well, but sadly, Republicans are the only party left searching for pareto efficiency (changes that benefit all members of society not rich or poor exclusively). Liberals prefer to redistribute wealth with social programs.

Evidently you haven't a clue what a communist socialist country looks like.

No where in that rambling incoherent mess was there even the slightest form of english. I believe that you write in what I like to call ingrish.

  • It only existed in that alternate universe between your ears.

No. Where in the world did you get such irrational ideas?
