Why do people thumbs down just because they disagree with the answer?

I saw your answer. You got thumbs downed because you said you would date him in order to seduce him and make him change his ways. That's disrespectful of his values.

A lot of people also consider it an insult when you say it's stupid to waste your time not having sex. Like me for example. I've been with my boyfriend for over a year and a half and we're virgins. But that doesn't mean that we don't have fun sexually and that we don't make each other feel good and give orgasms. People don't like it when you call them stupid time wasters because you don't know how to have fun and feel good without sex.

I think it's stupid to thumbs down someone you disagree with. It's bad information or things I find insulting that I thumbs down.

I only thumb down if a person is silly with their answer either violent or so ignorant and naive!!

If you are an omnivore answering on the vegetarian section the vegetarians will automatically thumb you down even if your answer is fair and not abuse. They are too self absorbed to think out the box and admit that they might be wrong with their facts!!

I have noticed too if you are too blunt with your answer, saying how it is without sugar coating it people don't like that either.

Even on the car section guys will thumb you down if you are a female giving a mechanical or driving answer!!

I by no skill thumbs down for only disagreeing. i ought to offer a thumbs down for no longer relaxing the question, for being offensive/insulting, or for being outright stupid/ignorant. i do no longer thumbs down lots except i'm PMSing or something although. As to your occasion, IF I gave that a thumbs down, it may be for being stupid/ignorant simply by fact sea-green isn't an truly shade. Seas are no longer any shade of green, final I checked.

There are many reasons why this happens.

The good reasons why they give thumbs down:

-False information

-Rude and spiteful answers

-Answers that are intended to pick on the questioner

-Spam answers.

-Posting something that doesn't relate to the question.

The bad pathetic reasons why people give thumbs down:

-Personally don't like you

-Jealous of your answer

-Jealous of your thumbs up

-Jealous of your avatar

-They don't like your opinion/honesty

-Just bored

-Trying to annoy you.

But anyway I also get a lot of thumbs down, even if its just an opinion or a fact. It's really stupid to be honest. But it happens to everyone. Not a lot you can do.

Just keep answering and speak your mind and take no notice of them trolls.

People are allowed to dislike an opinion. They're also allowed to thumb down an opinion they dislike. I notice you don't refrain from calling other people's opinions "stupid", so it's hard to see how you can claim to respect those opinions.

YOUR answers tend to get a lot of thumbs-down, in my opinion, because your questions and answers are never so much Q & A as they are an excuse to go on and on about yourself, and go on and on about sex, and people get tired of listening to that broken record over and over. Yeah, we get it. You like sex. Yawn. It's not really helpful to the people asking the questions.

Now, that was my OPINION, and by the rules you set yourself, you have to respect it.

Some people hate the truth and hate a well informed opinion. Other people live in ignorance or it benefits them. Most controversial and most answers received are anything to do with immigration. The usual people who thumbs down as you aptly put it, one raise legitimate questions or concerns about the status quo are by those who live in places where no immigrants live and so are clueless of the issues arising thereof, or are dating an immigrant or immigrants. In reality most people like immigrant food thier women and their culture, so long as they dont move in next door or date thier daughter.The flip side is those people who exhibit passive aggressive tendencies, who hide behind an avatar and the only thing they can do is thumbs down. Then there are people who constantly get thumbs down so they think better to do unto others, a sense of isolation. Then of course there are people who will not think for themselves, and will only think because thier religion says so thats why it has to be so. Fear not to walk the path of truth for the lack of people travelling on it. The truth is the truth. Some just find it uncomfortable.

I thumb down answers when I know that they are factually incorrect. I agree with you though, opinions should not be thumb downed.

I thumbs down people if they're being rude or insulting. Or if they're question is an unrelated wall of text.

Actually, the precise purpose of the thumbs up/down is ambiguous.

Also, to quote Douglas Adams: "All opinions are not equal. Some are a very great deal more robust, sophisticated and well supported in logic and argument than others."

A poorly thought out opinion is/leads to a poorly thought out answer. If your answer is your opinion, and people don't agree with it, then for them it is a bad answer, and so they give thumbs down.

I'm generalising, of course. Some people do it because they're dicks.

The same thing happened to me. I stated that I wasn't going to 'wait till marriage' and I got a lot of thumbs down. I mean, It's great that you want to wait till marriage.. but I don't. It doesn't make you any better than me (us) because you are and I'm not?

It's only Y! Answers, I'm not going to get all emotional about it though.
