i am thinking of adding ram...?

when adding ram to a PC, do you have to replace the ram you have already also?

    No, depending on what you have already installed and what your motherboard can handle you should be able to keep your existing RAM and just add more.

    Use the scanning tool at http://www.crucial.com/index.aspx to see what you've laready got fitten, compatable RAM, and what your motherboard can handle.

    No you don't necessarily need to replace the existing RAM but you may need to if you have no available slots.

    It is always best to add RAM modules of the same speed and timings as the ones already there because if you add faster modules the RAM will only run at the speed of the slowest module anyway.

    make sure you but the right ram the most common now days is the ddr2 so if it was made withing last year its ddr2
