The only way I really was able to sorta get over my first love even after years of pining away for her was when my mother died tragically in an auto accident

That's actually sort of funny because I haven't thought about my first love once in years until I read your question...so no, it's not true...you can definately forget your first love.

I think it's because eventually you meet that one person you want to spend the rest of your life with...that loves you as much as you love them...you realize that you were never actually in love before. It was just a crush or "puppy love." I thought I was in love many times...was with them for years and and thought I loved them more than anything.... but how I feel about my wife now...it doesn't compare...and those other girls are nothing compared to her...and no...I never think of them.

Yes it will go away your first love will always be your first and he will be unfergetable...but then you will meet someone else and get over it but u will still think about it once in a while...

I have the same situation as you. I have forgotten most of the memories. I haven't dated since the day my girlfriend broke up with me. She was my first and only. Time will tell. I asked that question myself sometimes.
