A large animal veterinarian...help!!! (please) (:?
Ok, I'm 17 and plan to be a large animal veterinarian.
Im in FFA (future farmers of america) and love "playing doctor" with the sheep at the farm. (:
haha, i do have a million other reasons why I want to be a vet.
Well i plan on eventually being a large animal vet with private practise (is that what its called? Where you live in a farm-oriented area and get calls to go help out other farm owners?)
I will hopfully be attending Cal Poly Pomona in 2 years but I would really like to know..
Which would I find a career in?
Animal Science -- I read this is for "Pre-Vets" (Not sure what that entirely means)
or
Animal Health Science -- this said for "Vet-Techs" (But I want to BE the vet, not work by there side.)
I understand being a vet will take years of dedication and studies..but I would like to find the correct road to become a large-animal vet working with farm animals.
Thankyou!

Most of my friends who went on to vet school either majored in Animal Science or Zoology. Either can get you into vet school.

Pre vet first and then vet tech. A vet tech is not someone who works by their side. a vet tech is a
Veterinary Technician. They make more money than a Pre-Veterinarian, which is the one working by their side.
You'll have to take both, plus some biology classes and the 4 beginning years of college.
Good luck.
