Which is a worse violation of passengers’ civil rights: Profiling or unreasonable search?
Israel uses interviews and observations to profile air passengers, which allows some to be more intensely scrutinized than others. The US now uses the same virtual strip search or hand pat-down for all passengers (except Muslim women and pilots). Which is more effective, and is one of these options a more serious violation of passengers' rights?

One is an explicit violation of the 4th amendment (unreasonable searches conducted without a warrant or probable cause), and the other is a bit more of a grey area. I'd say that the violation of the 4th amendment is much worse.
Additionally, law-abiding citizens have been denied exercising their 2nd amendment rights on commercial aircraft for decades, but for the same reason we are subjecting individuals to unconstitutional searches today.
I'd say we take a clue from the Israelis, and allow Americans to carry weapons on aircraft. Of course we can tighten it up a bit by issuing permits/background checks, etc for those who wish to carry weapons on planes, as well as training criteria about the discharge of a projectile bullet inside a pressurized, flying, aluminum can. But somehow I doubt people will go for that.

To me profiling is reasonable because it would help to eliminate so much search from the innocent, and yet of course this won't always work. Anyone could be a Muslim and therefore a terrorist.
It is humiliating to have to have the strip searches. I don't plan to fly but my daughter goes from east to west and west to east twice a year. The only complaint she had last time I saw her was they do not serve meals on the planes any more. This made it very inconvenient for her since she's on the plane for so long, all the way from PA to NV, and back again. So many things are causing inconveniences and humiliations now. I guess the reason for no meals is that the knives and forks could be used as weapons. (Thought I read that somewhere).

An unreasonable search is a more serious violation of passengers' rights. What constitutes an "unreasonable" search is up for debate.
Profiling passengers can be effective and efficient if it is done properly and sensible criteria are used.

profiling isn't unlawful or a contravention of the civil rights. Racial profiling, intercourse profiling, (any specific occasion or team of persons) profiling is prohibited and a contravention of civil rights. Police are taught to profile, yet pass the line whilst the racially profile. The IRS job has no longer one damn situation to do with what variety of enterprise a man or woman desires to open as long as their earnings, debit and taxes are actual. They profiled religious and faith based non-earnings merely! that's prohibited.

Considering it was those of Arab descent that have caused the fear they should be selected and questioned. Starting with their travel history. If they dont like it then they should stop trying to kill us.
When we allow these violations of our rights the terrorist win.
Why do you think in the past the Patriots in this country waived a flag stating "GIVE ME LIBERTY OR GIVE ME DEATH"?
What happened to our American attitude of not taking peoples crap and keeping our liberties even at the cost of our lives?
Peace be with you

I don't think there's much problem with questioning passengers and determining whether they're a problem based on their responses. The genital grabbing and porno scans are unacceptable.
