For people who have rook piercings?

I am planning on getting a this piercing, and would like to know a few things, from those who have gotten this done. When its first done, does the piercer use a ring or a bar? Also, did you have any problems when you got it done? Any advice? Thanks.

I have both of mine pierced and both of my tragus pierced. The rook I think hurt worse than my tragus.

They put a ring in mine, but also said I had a choice between that and one that looked like and eyebrow thing. I think they're called banana's or something. But I chose the ring because they said it tends to heal better with the ring in. And the ring they put in is really big. But this is because it allows for swelling after you get it done.

The only "problem" I've had to get used to with the rook piercing is that it will always somewhat hurt. I got one of my done and thought the guy messed up because it never really quit hurting. I had to find a certain way to sleep on it without it hurting. Then I went to this lady I know that is awesome at everything she does, tattoos and piercings, and she pierced my other one. I asked her why my first one was still hurting and she said it's because of the spot it's in, it's so close to nerves, etc, that it will always be a little tender. That's just what happens with the rook piercings. But they are worth it. :)

Good luck. And keep it clean!

My piercer gave me a choice , i picked banana bar because i figured it would be easier and more comfortable to clean.

I didn't have problems, but the first week or so, my EAR was swollen, not just the rook, but my cartilage was tender and swollen, kinda sticking out. That went down a hell of a lot. Just soak your ear with sea salt and water, everything will be good.

:) This piercing takes quite a while to heal, so don't be frustrated if you still get scabs and its still sore a month after, just clean it and it should heal just fine :).

    I love mine. GL!
