Reading a Massachusetts newspaper from the 1850s regarding prohibition, and it references 'Comstock Democrats'? What are they?

Comstock Democrats were in favour of the Comstock Laws, who wanted it to be "illegal to send any "obscene, lewd, and/or lascivious" materials through the mail, including contraceptive devices and information."
