What type of martial arts is best for football?

I am 18 years old training for the next season of football and i was wondering if anyone with martial arts knowledge could suggest what i should do. I'm trying to increase flexibility and core strength, while also working on hand speed and movements because i play defensive end.

Tai Chi. It teaches balance and how to center your weight. If you learn the self defense version of Tai Chi I can even see a few moves you could use to trip someone and get away with it. The drawback it takes a while to master.

hey! I play lacrosse, and started tae kwon do, for the same reasons you are interested in Martial Arts. I am overall a better player and get so much more time on the field. Tae Kwon Do doesn't only strengthen you physically but also emotionally. It's easy on the joints, so there is no risk in getting injured for a season of football, yet its hardcore enough to get your heart rate up and your body more cardio-fied. Good Luck! :)

tae kwan do stretches the hell out of you and requires lots of stamina and you have to be fast and have fast reflexes otherwise youll get spinning hook kicked in the face. it also teaches dicipline and emotional stability. im not exactly fond of football but i think it would be good for you wether you play football or not. leia is correct too

Wrestling. A tackle and a good double leg takedown are almost identical
