Non of the above qualifying expenses would be deductible on your 1040 federal income tax return unless you were to choose to itemized your deductions using the schedule A of the 1040 tax form for this purpose.
And if you do not have more than your standard deduction amount for all of your other itemized deduction amounts it will not benefit you to even try to use it because these amounts would first be subject to the limited 2% of adjusted gross income before you could use any of the amount and then the amount that would be over the limit would be added to all of your other itemized deduction amounts to hopefully be more than your single standard deduction amount of 5700 for the tax year 2010.
Hope that you find the above information useful to you and good luck and also a happy thanks giving coming up in a couple of days today is November 22 2010.

Job search expenses are deductible if you itemize. If you're not already itemizing it's probably not worth it.
If you are volunteering for a registered charity, you can deduct travel at 14 cents per mile. Again, this only helps you if you are already itemizing.
If you are single, you need more than $5,700 in itemized deductions in order to get any benefit from itemizing. If you're married and file jointly, you need double that amount. If these are your only itemized deductions it's not going to be worthwhile.

if you can itemize
both of these would be included on Sch A, one under Misc(job searching) and the other as a mileage contribution to some charitable organization
you can itemize if the subjects on Sch A exceed your standard deduction, if not, forget the whole thing
