Marineland Double Bright LED lighting system?

im setting up a 55gal soon and i was wondering if anyone had any experience with this product. from what i have read i don't think that Marinelands 36-48" LED lamp will be very attractive on a 55 considering it is only 36" long and the tank is 48", that would leave 6" unlit on each end of the tank. lame right? would two 24" glass hoods and two 18-24" Marineland double bright LED systems work better? or two 24-36"?

i know it will cost considerably more to buy two light fixtures to accommodate that foot of darkness but i really like the LED idea. its a money saver in the long run.

If you bring the light right up to the ends of the tank, that light will be used by algae to grow on the tank ends. A little shade on the ends and front glass of a tank is not a bad thing. I only have one, but my son has had three for a while already and called me to tell me to get them. With a dozen tanks 75 gallons and over it would cost me thousands to switch all of them. I'd go broke before I started saving money, But is is very tempting and looking at the one light, it has a sunlight quality of not spreading but coming out in a beam, recreating that sparkle you see on lakes and rivers and the sea. Someday this may be the only light left standing.

as long as you aren't doing live plants any light would be fine, and the double bright led fixture would be great because it has decent color spectrum and more intensity than the single bright light. note: you won't be doing live plants with africans I assume. If you do a live planted tank, then this light will not be quite intense enough for a deep tank like yours.
