why do we jump went you just going to sleep ?

sometime i just starting to fall asleep and jump ,what causes that ?

    Your half conscious brain feels you relaxing and, on occasion seems to interpret this as falling. It's a kind of startle reflex. Maybe that's why they call it falling asleep?

    if you're concentrating a lot on being still so that you can fall asleep, it can cause spasms in your muscles causing you to move/jump slightly. i'm not sure why it happens exactly, but it's nothing to worry about unless it's affecting your sleep.

    One theory is that because we allegedly evolved from monkeys, this was a natural reaction to waking up quickly so as not to fall out of the tree that we were sleeping in!....

    This reflex stopped us falling out of the trees

    Happens to me a lot. (Very light sleeper)

    ohh are you talking about u suddenly jump when ur sleeping?its the causes of like your dream i get it often

    I believe that it is just your nerve endings relaxing and just your body readyibg its self for sleep.
