So you feel better eating animals that were kept in factory farms and inhumanely slaughtered...I think that's worse. At least deer had a decent life and died with some dignity. And you asked this in the vegetarian section. Vegetarians don't eat venison.

I used to feel guilty shooting deer. Now that I have seen deer caught in fences and slowly frozen to death, impaled on farm equipment to slowly die, stuck in the Y in trees again to slowly starve to death. Now mostly in nature, contrary to the "Bambi fallacy " Animals do not die wonderfully and peacefully in their sleep. These animals generally die rather slow painful deaths. Every year due to exhaustion from the rut or starvation many of the bucks die, this because they freak out do not eat and gain the fat reserves needed for the winter.

If you've ever watched a starving child commercial - you get the big picture.

They also will run themselves basically to death chasing does and chasing off competing bucks. Now during the winter in a harsh year they can be reduced to eating twigs and sticks, as other browse is unavailable. Some of these same deer will die as exertion will cause these sticks to penetrate through their bodies, (slow horrible death).

Now if mother nature worked the way some people wanted then wolves, coyotes, bobcats, bears, wolverines, cougars , and a host of other carnivores wouldn't kill deer or catch them and begin consuming them before death.

I do not feel bad when I give them a good quick death.

I do feel bad when I see someone hit a deer and watch it slowly expire on the side of the road. I feel bad when deer - car accidents kill motorists due to deer overpopulation ( most of these accidents occur in larger cities where populations are not controlled). These accidents probably have killed more people than the War on terrorism has killed Americans.

I wish I could get as quick and clean of a death in return, instead of the slow decay, pain, loss of memory, and switching over to adult diapers.

So no, how could I feel bad eating deer knowing I killed the animal more ethically than large beef, poultry, pork, and other meat producers. I would feel more guilty eating Prime Rib.

I would feel guilty if I did not hunt to ensure an ethical, clean kill.

I once heard of someone asking why people do not just go to the store where they make meat, instead of hunting. I haven't found that store yet but, I'll be looking.

No, because I answer and ask questions in the Vegetarian & Vegan section here on Yahoo! Answers. Which means that I don't eat deer. This question should be in the general food section where you could find answers from a larger amount of omnivores rather than vegetarians and vegans.

No... no more than if I eat cow or chicken or turkey or fish.

Probably less deer... cows & chickes are not raised in the best conditions. At least the deer get the taste of freedom.

Also, if people were not given licenses to hunt deer every year, the deer population would boom and most of them would die horrible deaths from getting hit by cars, spreading diseases or competing for food and space with each other and other species.

I don't eat deer. Not because it makes me feel guilty, but because I don't like the taste.

A lot of deer is farmed these days. I don't think I would feel more guilty eating deer than a cow or a chicken.

I do feel a little guilty that one of the best meats I ever tasted is reindeer. Sorry Santa!

No. I don't feel guilty eating anything. Well, except maybe wild nuts & berries because then it's taking food away from all the wild animals that are running free and happy and playing checkers everyday.

I don't because all animals should be running wild and free before they're killed, then they have a good life.

yes bc think of how many people hunt for sport. now think of how many deer one hunter kills. add that up and see the bigger picture. Plus, many hunters don't shoot to kill. They shoot to bring down and many get dragged around and maybe even skinned alive if they haven't fully died yet..
