Spend time on Las Vegas Strip New Years Eve, then head to Club, OK?
Never spent new years eve at Las Vegas but I was curious, or if anyone done this. To spend the midnight countdown at the strip, and then head to a fancy club (Tao, Rain, LAX, etc). Do they still allow ppl inside the clubs? If clubs close at 3a, would it not be worth it?

What you are trying to do is almost impossible. All hotels on the Vegas strip close their doors 20 minutes before midnight. So you are either inside the casino or you are on the strip. The doors do not open till 10 - 20 minutes after midnight. The crowds are just overwhelming.
Another issue is that most clubs are full to capacity by 11pm and it cost about $100 and up just to get in.

Las Vegas is probably the most exciting and interesting town in the world and with hotelbye you will see out more. Nowhere otherwise on the planet you may find a town that's all the journey amenities that just a complete resort destination could possibly offer: luxurious casino accommodations, great eating, amazing stay activity and state-of-the art tradition and deal show facilities. Las Vegas is definitely a magnificent city and anything that you would expect from the world-class town, and more, is right here for the vacation pleasure. Among the places you should visit in Las Vegas is the Fremont Street, a pedestrian place with all kinds of special sites.

First, you need to find a hotel room, New Years is the busiest day in town & if you don;t have a room yet then that is your first priority. Expect it to be overpriced & at this late date expect to take whatever you can find.
Second; New Years is an exception to al the rules. The strip is closed to car traffic that night. What ever you do, your going to have to walk to get there. The street will be packed with people so don't be in a hurry.
Third; No, things don't close at 3 am on New Years....but..but. but, that doesn't mean your going to get into those clubs to enjoy it. Many of them are closed to the general public that night due to private parties or reservations required. Expect any club to be extra expensive that night.
Unless you have connections consider that other posters advice. Good Luck.

Not going to happen. You have to do one or the other. Clubs are going to be near impossible to get into if you haven't got your reservation in already. Add to the fact that every hotel on the strip closes their doors to the strip about a half hour before midnight and won't reopen them until well after. That is unless you have a room key for that hotel, then they will let you in. This is just to control the crowd. It is a real madhouse on the strip. You don't just move around easily. I believe they moved the fireworks back up to the roofs of the hotels. The parking lot thing was a terrible experience and caused more trouble than what it was to prevent.

If you are thinking of being out on Las Vegas Blvd, it is a complete madhouse. You will be packed in like cattle.
If you are thinking of wanting to go to one of the ultra clubs afterwards, then I suggest paying for one of the hotels NYE parties they have.
Most of the strip you can't see any fireworks. 3 yrs ago, there was a fire on the roof of one of the hotels, so they moved the fireworks launch areas to the top of the hotel's parking structures. I was out on the Strip in front of Caesar's Palace and couldn't see anything.
I'm not sure if the ultra clubs will be open to the public, If I remember, they are closed for private parties. If they've changed that, expect them to require you to buy a bottle package and those run about $500. The Ultra clubs are extremely expensive, you can't just sit down. If you want to sit,you have to get bottle service, that is if some of the chairs and sofas haven't all been reserved.

Spend midnight on the strip for the count-down yes it is possible! Thinking that you're just going to pack up and move you and your friends to a club like Tao, LAX, Pure or Jet, nope sorry. Most of these clubs are going to be packed and plus almost everything there is VIP or RSVP. I tried to do this 5 years ago and it didnt work for me and i speak on experience. The strip is SO packed its even hard to get a decent seat at the blackjack tables. The lines to get up to your rooms from 9pm- midnight is going to be a 30 minute wait to ride the elevators just to get to your room. If you want to do a club you better start planning now but i warn you, its freaking EXPENSIVE!

Lots of bad info out there...from people who 'pretend' to know too....sorry, about that.
I am figuring that if you are looking to be 'on the strip' and THEN hit the clubs...you're looking for a more 'budget friendly' option...and so I've included that in my suggestions/information.
NYE is VEGAS is AWESOME....that's why so many hundreds of thousands of people come here for it, every year!!!
You WILL have to choose...be on "The Strip"...be "in a club"...be "at a show" (many have NYE performances with streamers, etc)...or be 'downtown' on Freemont Street (a more affordable, and crowded, party scene!
IF, by some miracle, tons of people left the club immediately after midnight...then you might get let in...but NOT LIKELY. Unless...you tip HUGE to get in...something like the cover charge plus $100 per person tip to the door man. Then, sure...you'll probably get in. But, unless you are 'right outside' that casino's door...it'll take you 30 mins + to get to the club/doorman...and the clubs will probably close around 3-3:30 as usual. NO...no one lets any companies 'buy out' the club, etc for NYE. It's a myth...doesn't happen...the club makes too much money that night for any company to be able/willing to buy it out! (I know, I used to be involved in running some!)
No...probably not worth both...
"I"...would party in a club with a view...and try and get the best of both worlds.
OR...party downtown...people get wild and have a great time...and it's much more budget-friendly than any club in town!
Source(s): I own/run a Las Vegas based travel agency and event planning company...and have been in the Las Vegas hospitality field for nearly 20 years....so, not guessing. - ?Lv 41 decade ago
Umm, you can try but you won't succeed. First of all, the clubs will be amazingly full, and second of all, the strip will be so packed, you'll have problems moving 3 feet.

NYE is once a year, a club you can do anytime. The street is great with the fireworks and the people. That'd be my vote. Enjoy!
