What batteries do you need for a metal detector?

We have just bought a second hand metal detector ,does anyone know what batteries they use please

Clark metal detector MD 1200 if that helps

This is our first one so i hope it is ok for a starter one

Dont be annoyed we are new to this and would be glad of any help,i bought it for hubby because he has always wanted one

it says in battery compartment ==006p9v

On the side it says 2x 9v batteries

    usually in come in 12v 2Ah battery used commonly, depending on model some time battery voltage may change

    From the information on the detector, it seems that it takes two 9v PP3 batteries - the rectangular ones that are used in smoke alarms etc.

    There should be a diagram inside the battery compartment to show how they fit.

    Buy some cheap ones from somewhere like Poundland to try it with, and if it works buy some good ones.

    It seems that one takes two regular 9V batteries you you can buy anywhere,
