I was recently given a free computer and now I need internet service....?

...But we don't have a phone line. what ISP is best?

So I tried calling my cell phone company (Verizon) and they want a credit card and all this other stuff I also tried my satellite provider (dish) but they are SUPER expensive. Iv done a few Google searches but I'm feeling uninformed. Can someone let me know what I should be looking for, What is a fair price, What do all these 1g,3g,7g, mean, and am I the only one that is confused by all the marketing schemes? I need something fairly priced, not sluggish (so no AOL), and wireless (is that right because we don't have a land line but we do have a jack in the house we rent... ) So I guess just point me in the right direction and toss me some bits of info and I will be good to go! thank you!

a DRY LOOP. AT & T does this. I was amazed when my land line went down for 5 days, that my internet still worked...AT & T said even though they both come in thru my home number, they are actually on TWO different lines. I have seriously thought about just using my cell phone all the time and dumping my land line because we hardly ever use it. Call them and see..I believe its 40$ a month.

I bet you that you live in America.

Sorry can't help here in South Africa every one can access the internet via cell and no questions asked. And it is cheap.

My friend use to live on the street and made a living from the net.

Hope one day you to will kick authority out and be free.

Well, no phone line, no broadband. You could go with mobile broadband, but its absolute shite. Or connect to your neighbours unsecured wifi ;)
