Questions about Triathalons and Masters Swimming after college?

I am currently a highschool athlete who is mainly focused on academics when i go on to college and I also don't feel I have the talent to compete at a college level but i still enjoy the sport of swimming (and all sports actually) and would like to continue to practice them or compete even if not at a high level I have heard a little about Masters Swimming and also about competing in Triathalons. My one question is, are these activities I can continue beyond college, into my adulthood? Or is it a little pointless to do these activities?

Update:

I do swim now but I am thinking about continuing my career as an athlete after highschool and into college (not looking to compete in sports for my college) and my adult life.

You can continue any sport into adulthood. Triathlons in particular usually have a wide age range participating. And there are some competitive swimming clubs for adults - just saw a local news story about one a few days ago.

Also, you may not be an elite athlete that can compete in NCAA DI, but you may be interested in lower divisions of NCAA sports. Also, many colleges have club sports, which compete against other schools but much more casually than NCAA. And, there are intramural sports, which involve competing against your fellow classmates and are very informal. You can also take PE classes in specific sports to stay in shape and get a bit of college credit as well.
