Have any one seen the two documentaries about birth in the United States?

If so, what do you think based on your own research? My girlfriend and I who are expecting our first child found the two main ones to be very biased and then in both cases one of the main couples had to go to the hospital due to complications including in the one that Ricki Lake did because the child was a breech baby and they couldn't get it turned.

Also, the hospital that we are going to go to offers the same type of birth as they are pushing in the documentaries but in a wing of the hospital where there is support in case of a problem.

There are 3294 documentaries about giving birth, you'd have to be a lot more specific.

But yes, these days a lot of hospitals have been redoing their labor and delivery floor to be more friendly. Many hospitals now only offer private rooms and have fancy birthing suites so mom can be more comfortable. Lots of hospitals now have water birthing tubs as well.

This is why I opt for a hospital birth. I can have a lovely water birth in my birthing suite, listen to calming sounds on the hospital-provided cd player, rock on the hospital-provided birthing ball, and still just have my midwife and a nurse there to assist... but if something goes wrong the OR is 100 feet down the hall and there are teams of doctors standing by to save me and my baby.

I op for hopsital delivery, why have to deal with a huge scary rush around. when there is a complaication it can go from awsome to a catastify in under 5 mins why chance it. ive had two babies in the hospital one was natural in a private room with calming music, and close family around, my doctor and i worked out a birthing plan weeks before just for me so id have a positive exsperience and be able to have what i want in and around me in the delivery room. my second i wanted a natural birth but he wouldnt turn sadly it ended in c section. but i think sometimes on these shows and docies (thankyou redbox for bringing me my docis) that they make things seem better for the world because its what they chose to do, truth is whats good for you you will know and feel. its really good to have the backup support from a nurse and doc, to ensure your alright threw the labor and birth as well as the babies being closely monitored. good luck with your new baby
