there were many people that hated hanson back in the 90s, remember they were popular the same time as grunge movement was going on. i wasn't one of them i was a fan for a short while during my teen years...what they all have in common is that they are teen idols. the annoyance alot of people feel is that every single generation has them -- but each time they come along they are treated as if this is an original entity. it's not. every generation has a hanson and a justin beiber, equally as annoying as the last to anyone who is not a tween....

Yes. There was Hanson hate, there was also boyband hate in the 90's. The thing is this kind of music was originally targeted for teenage girls. Why Justin Timberlake when he was in N*Sync was still the teenage girl heartthrob as he is today. Nick Carter was plastered on teenage girls walls as was the Hanson boys. They got hated for not being original. Teeny-bopper music such as Hanson, Justine Beaver(ahem I mean Justin Beiber), Jonas Brothers, Westlife, Backstreet Boys etc is targeted at the younger female generation(11-teens). The thing is that every generation has bad teeny-bopper bands/artists for example the 2000's have Miley Cyrus, Ashley Tisdale, Justin Beiber, the Jonas Brothers, Demi Lovato, Selena Gomez etc while the 90's had Hanson, N*Sync, Westlife, Five, Boyzone, Backstreet Boys etc and each teeny-bopper band/artist in every generation is targeted for teenage girls and hated by a lot of people.

Yes, there was heavy Hanson hate. But New Kids on the Block were hated as well. Teeny-bopper music tends to get hated. It's nothing new - nor do I care if people like Bieber or not.

No, not quite, I think that Justin Bieber is more disliked by older generations because he represents the same type of thing that Hanson did and were disliked for originally.

Absolutely. But the main difference is something called the internet: back then, the internet was not as developed as it is today, so haters (and annoying teenage fangirls) didn't have such a platform to talk about teenage artists like they do today.

I used to think that once they turned 18, they'd look great in Playboy......
