Rent is due based on the lease or rental agreement outline, normally on the first of each month. There are some landlords and management companies that would allow a grace period of anywhere from 1-15 days.
If you have a grace period of any kind this grace period is spelled out in your rental or lease agreement. Don't automatically assume that you have a 3 day grace period because your friends or relatives have indicated that there should be one because of past experiences they have had.
These grace periods are becoming obsolete. Read you lease or rental agreement. Then you might inquire of a grace period from your landlord. There might be an unspoken silent nod of the head agreement if you do not pay your rent on time.
I hope this has been of some benefit to you, good luck.

Rent is due when the lease states rent is due. No laws require that a "grace period" be given.
