5 Boards in 5 minutes!?

Dampier looks young tonight. If he could play 25 minutes a night for the Heat and grab 8 boards he can allow the other players to run out and get a few easy ones. It has been all hands on deck on the defensive glass this year. If they can rely on someone to get boards the smaller guys do not have to crash the glass.

Agree or Disagree that Damp is going to really help the Heat?

Sorry, have to disagree. I've watched Dampier for several years in Dallas, and he's never been a motivated player. Once every couple of weeks he'll have a good game, and you'll start thinking that maybe he's finally ready to play hard and be a solid contributer. Then he'll have several games in a row where all he does is show up and collect his paycheck. Dampier has only had one solid season in his whole career, in 2004. It was contract year, and he put up career highs for points and rebounds. Then he got a fat contract with the Mavs and went right back to not caring.

Maybe playing for a team with a lot of talent like Miami will change his attitude, but Damp was on the Mavericks team that made it all the way to the championship round in 2006, and he was pretty much invisible in the playoffs. 25 mpg, five points, seven boards. And that was five years ago.
