Read a newspaper, or visit a news site.

Find a story that interests you, and make it the basis of your poem.

Write about what family means to an orphan child,

what a loving family home means to a homeless man

something with meaming, metaphors and description

    E.g

Sitting in rags all tattered and torn,

He gazed through the window and loved what he saw

A raging coal fire, and some children to play

Just what he wished for on a cold winters day

The frost bit his finger and nibbled at his nose

and his shoes, thin as paper, could not warm his toes

But the warmth and the love that the family there told

Reached into his heart and blessed his wee soul

The dear little beggar boy was welcomed inside

To share christmas gifts and a log of yuletide

A meal he'd never dreamed of was served in a dish

And the sweet little child got his christmas wish

What do you dream of, when you're sat all alone

Money and chocolate, a new mobile phone

Or the simplest things that are taken for granted

Like a home and a family, to be loved and be wanted

Do you think of others or not have a care

when enjoying your holidays, do you see over there

See the dear little beggar boy at your windowsill

Let him in, spare a second, 'tis the season of goodwill

Just wrote it off the top of my head but just an example anyways hope ths helps x

our soldiers. I'll give you mine. It's not a poem, but I write rhythmic poetry. Maybe you can take some ideas

    Freedom’s price

    a web of scarlet rivers

    poured from the soldiers side

    puddles of the crimson tide

    plunged the life

    of one brave soul

    into utter nothingness.

    the bullet

    that seared his skin

    and brought the fatal blood

    was but a small

    price to pay

    when compared

    to freedom’s gain

    Source(s): my poetry.

Dah da da da dah die

Dah da da da dah die

    Behind these prison walls

Doing my paces, doing my time

    Spending my restless nights

Visioning faces, oh they are crying, crying

Prison a no bed a roses

The levity it makes mi bawl

I wish that Jah could come and take us back in time

[Cause I swear that I can be a better man

Yes I swear if only you could understand

The faith in me shall set me free reflection

The faith in me shall set me free reflection

    Behind these metal bars

    To Jah Jah I'm chanting

    I pray for love devine

I'm oh so sorry a man

    Deeply I'm hurting

The price ordained to be mine

Impossible to see the changes that I have made in my life

All they see is just the boy I left behind

    Don't judge me wrong

Cause now I'm stronger than I was before

    I was young and unwise

    Didn't you hear my cry

Impossible to see the changes that I made in my life

All they see is just the boy I left behind
