We got a business card from my vet and we googled reviews on the place and went to check it out.

Look at every aspect, but don't follow one more than the others. See who friends and relatives are using and ask why they like them. Also ask vets who their clients use and ask about incidents that have come from groomers in your area. Accidents may happen, but a groomer with many accidents may not be careful enough around pets. Some groomers may advertise, others may not, so I would not rely on advertising heavily.

I asked people in my neighborhood I'd pass with a well-groomed dog, I asked local friends (in the same city), and viewed each recommended grooming facility prior to selecting. I have 2 I like, so if one's schedule is full in advance for a bit, I can rotate to the other grooming salon. And my hospital has a decent groomer, especially with behavior problem dogs (fosters/strays I bring her), but I prefer the other 2 groomers I've had for 5 and 7 years respectively.

I went to get my dog some dog food, and as I went to the store the worker had given me a little business card to this groomer, and I went. I liked it there, my dog liked it there, they treated the dog well and did a good job, and reasonable prices so I continue to go there.

My groomer...a very good one, only lives less than a mile from me, and has a good reputation.
