Hey,
Let me help you in solving this problem!
The problem says: "Assume a city agency has 775 office workers.
If 2 out of 25 office workers were absent on a particular day, how many office workers reported to work on that day?"
Number of workers that reported to work on that day =
Total number of workers - Numbers of workers that were absent on that day = 713
As stated in the problem, 2 out of 25 office workers were absent on a particular day.
Or, I can say that out of 25 workers, 2 were absent on a particular date.
So,
Number of workers that were absent out of 775 workers
= (2/25) * 775
= 2 * (775/25)
= 2 * 31...............................[Simplify]
= 62
Out of 775 workers 62 were absent.
So,
Number of workers that reported to work on that day = 775 - 62 = 713

If it means 2 out of every 25 workers (as it probably does) you need to know how many groups of 25 there are in 775 (31) then take 2 from each of the 31 to get 62 to find the number absent, then take this from 775 to see that 713 reported to work.
In equation form:
Reporters = 775 - (775/25)x2

2 / 25 is the fraction and we have to make the denominator 775
775/25= 31
2 x 31 = 62
fraction= 62/ 775 (absent)
775-62 = 713 (present)

It means, that if you take 25 office workers out of those 775, 2 were away.
So just get the ratio.
775/25 = 31
31 x 2 = 62
775 - 62 = 713 workers reported to work.
Its 2/25 or 62/775 workers were not there, therefore 713/775 were.
Hope i helped :)

First, you should find a multiplier to link the 25 to the 775. To do this, we just divide the numbers.
775/25 = 31
Now we have a multiplier of 31, we then just use this on our stat.
2 x 31 = 62
2 x 25 = 775
Therefore, 62 out of 775 workers did not attend to work that day.
If you want to find the number of attendees, just subtract your answers.
775-62 = 713 workers attended work that day.

2 out of 25 is the fraction:
2
--
25
if 25 out of 25 office workers were present, then all 775 reported to work, but we have
25 - 2
--------- =
25
23
---- reported to work
25
23
---- * 775 = 23 * 31 = 713
25
when you divide 775 by 25 you get 31
