Fat Guy In A Fat Suit?
it's cold outside, so i decided to put on a bunch of long sleeve shirts, i'm fat, so i told my nephew that it makes me feel like a fat man in a fat suit. he says isn't that "ironic" i said "isn't it redundant". i'm trying to figure out what word i'm looking for. like when a smoker tells another person not to smoke is hipocritical, or alone together is an oxymoron, etc... it's just bugging me. what kind of word makes this make since.

Really, I'd say both your answers (ironic/redundant) apply. By the way, by no means do I mean this answer to criticize you or your weight;I'm answering what's likely a delicate issue strictly because you seemed most interested in the analysis of the words, and the ideas *were* kind of interesting to me too, so here's my take.
It's "ironic" because, to me, it seems, normally a thin man wears a fat suit, like an Actor, to appear "fat." So if a fat person wears it (presumably, then, it wouldn't be needed on stage), it's intended effect is superceded by the original condition. It's like a real ghost wearing a ghost costume on Halloween. That example would be particularly ironic because it's like the ghost is making fun of humans' costumes and messing with their mind. Maybe the fat person would be implying an ironic statement like "see, you think I'm fat? I'll show you fat" so then it's almost like a cartoon unreality. A challenge to unlayer. Agressive irony.
Yes, it's "redundant," too. Like wearing a belt with suspenders. Unnecessary, ultimately. But I like the idea that the fat guy is wearing the fat suit on purpose because that's really what gives it the irony. Mess with people's minds! If they see the fat costume, maybe they'll assume a super-thin person is underneath. Or not. They'll never know. Again, a challenge to unlayer.
Fat guy's fat suit could definitely be an oxymoron -- since "fat" is already there before the suit is put on -- as in some of these examples:

(though sometimes a large-fat Actor may just need to look fatter).
Hypocritical? That's what I'd call someone if they were eating Doritos while they called me fat. I don't care how thin they are. It's just wrong!
(Power to ya, dude.)
