My daughter diagnosed with JIA and Polyarticular arthitis?

my daughter is 7 and she was diagnosed with this. she has arthritis in her jaw, neck, bac,, wrists, all her fingers, and her legs and her ankles. She is on steroids and anti inflammatory meds and she is in such pain. in the morning she is in the most pain as well. does anyone know of a support group or have dealt with this or some remedies to help her. she also has colon disease and has to have a tube inserted in her bellybutton nightly to do a flush because she has a part of a colon and no rectum. This is all getting overwhelming and i feel so badly for her.

I can very much relate to your daughter (except for the colon thing) i have had JRA (they just recently changed to calling it JIA but i always say JRA cause that was what i was diagnosed with so i call it that) since I was 9, my symptom started when i was about 7 though it just took them forever to diagnose it. i have not heared of any support groups for it but there is these camps that she can go to over the summer so she can meet other kids. i don't know were you live but the one i go to is in Wisconsin. next time you meet with your rehumatoligist you should ask about camps. also maybe seeing a therapist will help her deal with her feelings more because mind and body are related and if she feels better with talking about it may be able to relive a little of the pain (it has for me but i have not said anything to anyone about my feelings until i started talking about it to my therapist). so that is another option for support. something that might help her with pain is this thing called a TENS unit. it is not medication and it doesn't have any long term or short term effects. the things to know is that it does not work for everyone and if it does work it wont relive all of her pain but would make it more bearable. what it basically does is you put these patches on were the pain is and then you turn the unit on and it sends these electric pulses deep into the nerve tissue and try to mix up the pain cycle so the pain is still there but you don't feel it because your brain doesn't receive that there is pain there. i just recently got the TENS unit and it has helped me, it has made the pain more bearable. also acupuncture could be of help, i have tried it once and it has helped me some. another thing is allergies testing. if she is allergic to something that could have been something that has made the JRA worse. these are all of the things i can think of right now, there is probably some more. you can email me at daniellecipolla13@yahoo.com so i can talk to you and tell you about some other things if i think of anything. also if your daughter ever wants to talk about it she can talk to me, i can relate. i hope i helped :)

With JIA and polyarthritis in children is an immune dysfunction. Not to keep into the specific but check out the following site and give them a call.. This test and program have a very high success rate.. There are dietary changes that need to be made.. some are drastic but well worth it if your daughter is in that much pain

ELISA/ACT test.. I believe the site is www.ELISA/ACT.com

    Good luck

Understandable....and good for you for looking for options. There are options out there...

I have been a natural health practitioner/herbalist for over 15 yrs...have confidence in many natural therapies/herbs and certain supplements. I used to have colitis and anxiety issues yrs ago...and am fine now. (no meds) I'm happy to make suggestions and of course there are naturopathic doctors and various practitioners available for you in your area as well. I also work for a MD who is very holistic and he and I agree on numerous supplements for various concerns. Up to you of course...but bottom line, start thinking out side of the box...do some research and ask questions!
