My hands have been numb all week...?
I am 100% free of drugs in my system. I went to the doctors today and i guess everything was fine. I've been lightheaded all week but not lately. I've been napping a lot but yet feel so tired and out of it. It really bugs my arms and hands to touch things and do stuff like put on a sweatshirt or pet the dog. What could this be?

It could be carpel tunnel. (I think that's how you spell it). I personally never had it, but I researched it a lot because I thought I did have it... So... these are a few of the symptoms: numb, tingly fingers, sore wrist/hand/joint where the wrist and arm connect, and just pain in your hands and fingers. I never had it myself, so I'm not exactly sure. You can get it from repeating a motion in your hands/fingers/wrist for a while. For example, if you type a lot on the computer you can get carpel tunnel. Another way is if you play a stand-up bass or something. You have to strain your wirst to get it in a good position. I bought this thirty dollar palish-tan wrist brace with three straps on it for my wrist(my wrist has pains, too) and it really works. I got mine at CVS pharmacy. But, if I were you, I'd go to the doctors. My wrist is in great pain also, so I'm actually going to the doctors for it sometime early next week. I hope I helped and good luck

Just your hands are numb or your legs too? I would go for a second opinion talk to a doctor who will listen. Numbness is no minor thing. There are tons of things that could be wrong. If it is both hands, then it is probably not a stroke, but it could be something else that is serious.
I first started having numbness over a year ago at the begining of a pregnancy. It scared me so I did nothing about it (probably not the wisest choice). Then when the baby was several months old, I started experiencing the numbness again, only this time I had just started on birth control. I thought I was having a reaction. My OB/GYN took it very seriously, I stopped the med, but the numbness didn't go away, so he sent me to a neurologist. When I told my family doctor about it, it concerned him but he was glad I was going to a neurologist. He told me to expect a whole gammit of test.
The neurologist ordered a whole slew of blood work and an MRI. He was checking for Thyroid problems, Diabetes, Lupus, vitamin deficiany and many more things. The MRI was to check for MS.
I met with the doc this week and got the results of my tests. My problem was found on the MRI and was actually nothing that we had been testing for. It was found that I have a rare neurological condition- Chairi Malformation where the base of the skull is too small for the cerrebelum and crowds it into the brain stem and spinal cord. This is very rare and the symptoms are the same as many other things. But there could be blockage of spinal fluid which could lead to paralysis. I am so glad I was checked out. If I would have left it I could have had a serious problem. Any head trauma could progress my condition. Had I not gotten checked out I would not know, if I had a car accident tomorrow, it could be devastating if they did not know to check that and fix the problem.
I have had other symptoms for years that have gone untreated or been incorrectly treated. Headaches, back pain, fatigue, neck pain are just a few. I had explanations for each symptoms things that satisfied me. Maybe I needed a better bed, more exercise, a better diet, better sleep habits etc...
Don't let this numbness be ignored. Don't settle until you find a doctor who takes it seriously and does some testing. There are some very serious conditions that could be causing this and you need to find out for sure. Most likely you don't have the same issue I have as it is a rare condition. But you could have other serious things. Diabetes left untreated could be fatal, those are signs of diabetes. Low blood sugar would make you feel like that and circulation problems are common. If your numbess was just on one side, heart problems and strokes are a problem as well.
You could have nothing, but you don't know until you have been checked. DOn't let them push you aside, find a good doctor who will listen and take your symptoms seriously.
You NEED to get checked out.

I ordinarily wouldn't try to be like a doctor on this site, but what the hell. I had something similar to this. It felt like there were needles in my arms and hands when they came into contact with anything, and I had vision problems and lightheadedness. I was pretty persistent with my doctors, and I had an MRI done on my upper spinal cord and brain. I had what's called a "chiari malformation" and a "syrinx". Basically, my brain was sagging, it caused a cyst, and it caused me pain. If it doesn't go away, start to pester your doctors for a solution. I hope you feel better soon.

Depending on which fingers/parts of your hand are affected sounds like it could be carpal tunnel. Even if you've never had it or never will again, pregnancy can induce this. I would speak with your doctor, they can confirm if it is indeed carpal tunnel, and if it is, provide you with a hand brace, or other remedies that can ease your pain.
