There is no tax cut being voted on. What is being voted on is a proposal by Obama and the Democrats to increase taxes by the greatest amount in the history of the USA. In the middle of a recession.

The Republicans and the American people wish to keep the tax rates as they are now. The Democrats wish to raise them on everyone. The Democrats are trying to incite a class war in America but the people are way to smart for that. When the Democrats say middle class, they are talking about the lazy people on welfare. Everyone who works is rich to a Democrat.

2012 will not be kind to the liberals.

It should be "whose," by the way.

They're on the side of the middle class, and the middle class tax cut is not going to fail. However, in order to achieve it, they will have to give the Republicans some of the things they want, or the House of Representatives won't pass the bill. They'll have to give up the idea of more heavily taxing the wealthy. I don't think this is a good idea, nor do they, but it's not their fault really. Maybe they'll attach to the bill a provision for extending unemployment benefits. All these things increase the deficit.

Obama doesn't know how to play Congress as well as Clinton, but his heart is in the right place.
