If you were a millionaire?
what would you do to help those who were destitute and needy through no fault of their own? I've been watching "secret millionaire" and wondered how most of us would react

I'd give a large sum of money to the country's mental hospitals.
The recent successful Children In Need campaign prompted me to think of charitable giving trends in the UK. The overwhelming share of money raised seems to gos to animal, cancer and children's charities. Overseas aid also fares well.
Obviously all of this is great but what of the Cinderella category, Adult mental health? Could it be that those who have depression, schizophrenia or dementia don't present the kind of TV profile to induce tears and sympathy in quite the same way? It's such a shame.

It would be nice to be a millionaire, firstly so that my own three children had no more struggles in life, and then I think my money would be welcomed so much in the charity "Children with Leukaemia" which I have tried to support over the last 10 years or so. With this charity there is only around 3-4% of money raised taken up in administration, compared with some so called charities where very little of the money raised is left for the charities themselves. This charity has over the years built it's own treatment centres and is doing a wonderful job for these unfortunate children. I wonder just how many lives this charity has saved since it started.

I would give Centre Point in London money so that they could refurbish more properties to enable them to help get young people off the streets and enable them to turn their lives around.
I already sponsor a room for a young person and the reports I have read of some of the people that they have `rescued' are heart breaking. The best £16 a month I have ever spent.

I would help those that deserved it, everyone has the potential for great things in life and if they chose not to put in the work, then that's what they get. But.. if they have been placed into a bed life by no fault of their own then I would and I also would if Children or Animals were involved as they don't deserve bad lives.
