Hey hon, if you're an assertive kind of girl, then you need to compartmentalize your roles... and when it comes to romance, you need to drop the aggressiveness. See, it is inappropriate for a girl to pursue a guy, that is for him to do, it's his prerogative to pursue YOU and initiate something if he desires to. Not your place to do that. If you insist on chasing after a guy, then you'll make him feel "less of a man;" not a good thing for his ego. If you succeed in your efforts to date him, then he will never "be a man." He won't make much of an effort to plan things with you, won't remember your birthday, your aniversary, 'n take you for granted, he'll say to himself, shrug... well... she likes to DO everything, DOES everything her way, etc., yada, yada, yada. I'll just let her keep on doing it HER way and I'll just be around... for now, anyway.
So hon, nothing wrong with being aggressive and assertive, as long as you drop all that masculine behavior when it comes to your love life. Learn to be self-disciplined in that area, be more patient with the guy, let him take the lead, you follow. If he doesn't come after you, then do you really want a guy who doesn't have the ambition to pursue a girl he wants? I would hold out for a real man. Sooner or later he'll come along, but it does take time. Still, a guy like that is well worth waiting for.
Having said all the above, you could have a small get-together at your house when your parents are home some Saturday evening. Invite another couple and him to come over, play video games, watch a movie, order a Pizza and have some Ice Tea. Then after that, the ball is in his court. Be patient and wait for him to ask you out.
