How to solve for x in 8x^2 + 134x - 714?

You can either complete the square, factor, or use the quadratic equation... thanks!

    Presumably you meant:

    8x^2 + 134x - 714 = 0

    Divide by 2:

    4x^2 + 67x - 357 = 0

    Factor:

    (x + 21) (4x - 17) = 0

    Use the zero product principle twice:

    x = -21, 17/4

    Although, with such large coefficients, it might have been easier to use the quadratic formula.
